Fear Sets In . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Danielle Kennedy, Insight, #83

Today Is Mine . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Alcohol Anonymous

"Today is mine. It is unique.
Nobody in the world has one exactly like it.
It holds the sum of all my past experiences and all my future potential.
I can fill it with joyous moments or ruin it with fruitless worry.
If painful recollections of the past come into my mind, or frightening thoughts of the future, I can put them away.
They cannot spoil today for me."

Insight Today . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Ralph Waldo Emerson

"This time, like all times, is a very good one, if we but know what to do with it. I ask not for the great, the remote, the romantic. Give me insight into today, and you may have the antique and future worlds."

Giving That Stimulates . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Dr. Albert Schweitzer

"It is only giving that stimulates. Impart as much as you can of your spiritual being to those who are on the road with you, and accept as something precious what comes back to you from them."

Dare To Be You . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Dr. Norman Vincent Peale

"It is a dangerous thing to be an imitator. Ralph Waldo Emerson, in his famous essay on self-reliance says, ‘Imitation is suicide.' This means, I believe, that if you try to be anyone other than yourself you kill your own personality and you actually kill your own soul.
I sometimes think we ought to bring a bill before Congress changing our national symbol from the eagle to the buffalo, because we are more like the buffalo than the eagle. The eagle is a powerful bird. It flies alone. It rises up into the sky with authority. It is master of all it surveys. The eagle is an individualist and was selected from among the rest of the birds to be our symbol. But the buffalo was never alone. It always ran in a herd with other buffaloes. And, friends, I call your attention that the buffaloes are gone from the open range, but the eagles are still soaring.
The lesson is clear. Any nation that becomes a nation of the heard ceases to produce great personalities. If ever the idea comes to your mind, ‘Don't be different, because people will think you are peculiar,' remember what Emerson said, ‘Imitation is suicide.' If you try to imitate someone else, you become second-rate. All great thinkers are people who dare to be themselves."
